The General Directorate of Meteorology expects heavy, sometimes thundery rains, snowfall, and strong local winds and cold weather, from today, Friday, to the day after tomorrow, Sunday, in a number of regions of the Kingdom.
The Directorate explained, in an updated alert of "orange" alert level, that heavy, sometimes thundery rains are expected, with measurements ranging between 35 and 60 mm, in the prefectures and provinces of M'diq-Fnideq, Khemisset, Beni Mellal, Meknes, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khénifra, Fes, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Ouazzane and Tetouan, starting today, Friday, at ten in the morning until Saturday noon. It is also expected to record the same phenomenon (from 20 to 35 mm) in Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Kenitra, Driouch, Rehamna, Kalaat Sraghna, Al Haouz, Settat, Berrechid, Khouribga, Tangier-Asilah, Larache, Al Hoceima, Fqih Ben Salah, Azilal, Temara-Skhirat, Sale, Rabat, Nouaceur, Mohammedia, Mediouna, Casablanca, and Ben Slimane, during the same time period. The Directorate also expects snowfall starting from altitudes of 1200 meters, with measurements ranging between 20 and 50 cm in Taroudant, Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Midelt, Boulemane, Guercif, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Sefrou and Taza, and between 10 and 15 cm in Chefchaouen, Chichaoua, Taourirt, and Al Hoceima, from noon today, Friday, until noon tomorrow, Saturday. It added that strong local winds (from 75 to 95 km/h) are also expected in Driouch, Figuig, Azilal, Ifrane, Larache, Tetouan, M'diq-Fnideq, Sidi Kacem, Tinghir, Sidi Slimane, Ben Slimane, Berrechid, Khouribga, Settat, Berkane, Jerada, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Khemisset, Rabat, Sale, Temara-Skhirat, El Jadida, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Beni Mellal, Fqih Ben Salah, Meknes, El Hajeb, Khénifra, Fes, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouazzane, Ouarzazate, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Taza, Guercif, Al Hoceima, Boulemane, Midelt, Tangier-Asilah, Al Haouz, Taroudant, Guelmim, Sefrou, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, and Kenitra, starting from five in the afternoon today, Friday, until two in the afternoon tomorrow, Saturday. The same source continued, in the same bulletin, that the weather will be cold (between minus 03 and minus 08) in the prefectures and provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Chichaoua, on Saturday and Sunday.
