HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
One section of the Dakhla Street belonging to the Sebata district in Casablanca is witnessing incomplete works, where the sidewalk appears in a condition unsuitable for use, with concrete blocks and paving stones scattered in the middle of the pedestrian walkway, affecting the smooth flow of pedestrian traffic.
Field inspection shows that a large part of the sidewalk has become unusable, which prompts pedestrians, including children, the elderly, and people with special needs, to use the roadway, given the narrowness of the street and the density of traffic, which may increase the risks of daily transportation. It is also noted that there is an absence of signage or protective barriers that would alert road users to ongoing works or potential hazards, which raises questions about the extent to which safety standards are respected in such projects, as well as the mechanisms for their follow-up by the relevant authorities. In this context, a number of residents expressed their hope for the intervention of the competent authorities in order to complete the works as soon as possible, and to re-prepare the sidewalk according to standards that ensure the safety of citizens and the quality of public space. This situation brings to the fore the problem of following up on urban preparation projects, and the extent of their commitment to technical standards and specified deadlines, within the framework of efforts to improve living conditions within the city.
