Four people, aged between 7 and 41, were rushed to the emergency department of the regional hospital in Jerada after midnight on Sunday-Monday, after suffering suspected suffocation from a butane gas leak inside their home in the Hay Oulad Hammoussa area in the city.
Informed sources told "HIBAPRESS" that the incident occurred inside the family's residence, where suffocation cases were recorded among its members, which necessitated an urgent intervention to transport the injured to the emergency room of the regional hospital in Jerada to receive the necessary treatment. The same sources added that the health condition of the injured required them to be subjected to medical observation, pending the stabilization of their health status, at a time when an investigation was opened by the competent authorities to determine the circumstances of the incident, and to ascertain the real reasons behind the gas leak. This incident brings to the forefront the risks of unsafe use of butane gas cylinders inside homes, especially in the absence of ventilation conditions, which necessitates the strengthening of awareness campaigns on ways to prevent and avoid such accidents that threaten the safety of families.
