The second edition of the Moroccan Cultural Week continues in Mexico, which began on Friday in Mexico City and moved yesterday, Monday, to the city of Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco state (southeast), to complete the program of cultural and artistic activities of this event.
The activities of this cultural event, organized until January 31st, by the Kingdom's embassy in Mexico City in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy and the Chamber of Handicrafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, continued with an evening yesterday in Villahermosa that was distinguished by the presence of the governor of Tabasco state, the mayor of the city, and a number of personalities from the worlds of culture, art, and politics, in particular.
During this evening, a Moroccan caftan show was organized, along with performances by the "Abidat Rma" group and a local Mariachi music band, in addition to shows highlighting the distinctiveness of Moroccan culture in the fields of culinary arts, handicrafts, and Moroccan zellige, in particular.
In a speech on the occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Mexico, Abdel Fattah El-Labbari, said that organizing a Moroccan cultural week in Mexico reflects Morocco's keenness to share its civilizational richness and cultural diversity with the Mexican people and to highlight deep common values, especially hospitality, respect, the richness of traditions, and openness to the world.
El-Labbari highlighted that this event constitutes a date for meeting, discovering, and celebrating together, stressing that Morocco seeks through it to "bring a part of its soul to the city of Villahermosa," and inviting the attendees to visit the Kingdom and discover its cultural richness, hospitality, and civilizational diversity.
For his part, the governor of Tabasco state, Javier May Rodríguez, stressed in his speech the importance of such events in establishing bridges of communication and acquaintance between the Mexican and Moroccan peoples and highlighting the cultural similarities between the two countries, calling for the investment of this common humanity to strengthen the rapprochement between the two peoples.
In turn, the head of the Chamber of Handicrafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, Abd al-Rahim Al-Zamzami, confirmed that handicrafts constitute a basic lever for dialogue between cultures, highlighting its role in consolidating sustainable cultural cooperation between Morocco and Mexico.
Al-Zamzami pointed out that this event constitutes a valuable opportunity to highlight the richness of the Moroccan cultural heritage and the creativity of traditional craftsmen, considering them "true protectors of knowledge passed down through generations and key actors in economic and social development."
In its last stop, the Moroccan Cultural Week will arrive in Sonora state, where Morocco is participating as a guest of honor in the Alonso Ortiz Tirado Festival, one of the most prominent cultural and artistic events in Mexico, by organizing artistic and cultural shows that highlight the distinctiveness of Moroccan culture in the fields of music, culinary arts, handicrafts, and traditional fashion.
