French authorities arrested on Friday the citizen of Moroccan origin Elias Kharbouch, after days of searching following his Hollywood-style escape from a prison in Villepinte, along with a woman who later turned out to be a former prison guard, in a case that sparked widespread controversy over the circumstances of the escape.
French media, including "TF1" and "LCI," revealed that the arrested woman was in a romantic relationship with the prisoner nicknamed "Ganito," where she met him during her work inside the prison institution, before leaving her job later. The same sources added that investigations are underway to determine the extent of the woman's involvement in facilitating the escape or providing direct assistance to him, especially since the escape was carried out in a way described as complex, suspected of being carried out by impersonating security elements. French authorities continue their investigations into the case, amid fears of security loopholes or potential collusion within the prison system.
