Ahmed Sabbar – HIBAPRESS
The Kenitra Municipal Council, during its last session, unanimously approved the study and vote on the delegated management contract and the specifications for the sweeping and collection of household and similar waste services in the residential area, with the ARMA company, in a step that reflects a clear trend towards strengthening the governance of the sanitation sector and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
This decision comes after extensive discussions within the Council, concerning the various technical, financial, and administrative aspects of the contract, where the need to meet the expectations of the residents, ensure the conditions of sustainability, and increase the efficiency of managing this vital facility, which has remained one of the most prominent challenges facing the city, was emphasized.
In this context, the role of the head of the Kenitra municipality, Amina Harrouza, emerged, who led this file firmly and responsibly, putting an end to what sources from within the Council described as "political heresies" that accompanied the discussion, especially from some components of the opposition, headed by the Justice and Development Party, which took over the management of the city's affairs for two consecutive terms, without succeeding, according to observers, in establishing sustainable solutions to the problems of sanitation and urban management.
The head of the council confirmed, in her intervention, that the interest of the city of Kenitra and its residents remains above all political considerations or narrow electoral calculations, stressing that the current stage requires courageous and responsible decisions, based on realism and cutting off the auctions that no longer serve the aspirations of citizens.
Observers of local affairs believe that the unanimous approval of this file constitutes a clear political message that the council, with its majority and opposition, has chosen this time the logic of consensus and institutional work, away from the logic of disruption or political investment in administrative issues that affect the daily life of the population.
Eyes remain directed, during the next stage, to how this contract will be implemented on the ground, and the extent to which the company delegated to it adheres to the specifications, in light of the council's confirmation of activating the mechanisms of follow-up and monitoring, in a way that ensures a sanitation service befitting the city of Kenitra and meets the aspirations of its residents.
