Zakaria Al-Azouzi, head of the Coordination of Moroccans in Syria, praised the release by the Syrian General Security apparatus of a group of women who were detained in Al-Hol camp, considering this step to reflect a positive trend in dealing with one of the most complex humanitarian files.
Al-Azouzi explained in a statement received by the "HIBAPRESS" newspaper that the suffering of women and children inside the camps was characterized by poor detention conditions, corruption of the food program, the separation of some children from their mothers, in addition to the complete absence of the minimum requirements for treatment and medical care, as well as the long period of detention without legal or logical justification.
The head of the Coordination of Moroccans in Syria pointed out that these conditions constitute serious violations that affect human values and divine laws, considering the physical and psychological suffering of the detainees, especially among the vulnerable groups of women and children.
Al-Azouzi revealed, based on data available to him, that a number of women, including six Moroccans with their children, are still in detention in the Ain al-Bayda camp in the Jarablus region near the Idlib governorate, explaining that some cases have exceeded a detention period of six or seven years.
Al-Azouzi called on the Syrian government to release these women and treat them kindly, stressing that the continuation of this situation does not carry any meaning or value in light of the harm it causes to the dignity of women and children.
