HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi

In direct response to the early warning bulletins issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, and within the framework of field operations led by Mr. Rachid Benchikhi, the Governor of Taza Province and Head of the Regional Committee for Vigilance and Follow-up, the regional authorities have launched a comprehensive mobilization to secure road axes and mitigate the repercussions of the exceptional rainfall the province is experiencing during the winter season 2025–2026.

These measures fall within the framework of activating the regional action plan related to precautionary measures and proactive procedures, in accordance with the high royal instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, aimed at caring for citizens and ensuring their safety during periods of climate fluctuations. In this context, the level of readiness and vigilance has been raised through the mobilization of all available logistical and human resources of the Regional Directorate of Equipment and Transport, local authorities, and the Inter-municipal Cooperation Institution. Field and operational teams have been deployed throughout the week near sensitive road sections, in order to intervene immediately to address collapses, landslides, and erosion, remove stones, soil, and mud, open temporary diversions, and break the isolation of the affected population, while ensuring the safety of road users and restoring the smooth flow of traffic. These interventions included a number of classified road axes, including National Road No. 9 linking Bouiblane and Meghrawa, Regional Road No. 504 between Bouiblane and Imouzzer Marmoucha, and Regional Road No. 508 between Had Msila and Kouzat, in addition to a group of regional roads and rural tracks in a number of local authorities, especially in mountainous areas known for their difficult terrain and the intensity of their rainfall and snowfall. In parallel, the authorities were directed to intensify coordination with elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, auxiliary forces, and civil protection, by organizing awareness campaigns for residents near valleys and areas threatened by floods and erosion, as well as among road users, while taking precautionary measures such as temporarily prohibiting passage at some bridges and technical facilities, directing drivers to alternative routes, and placing the necessary signs and barriers to protect the safety of citizens. Within the framework of the comprehensive mobilization, the maintenance teams of the Regional Multi-Service Company in Taza launched intensive field interventions, in close cooperation with the public authorities, concerning the repair of malfunctions related to drinking water, electricity, and liquid sanitation networks, despite the constraints related to difficult access and harsh climatic conditions, where electricity was restored in a number of areas, electricity poles were repaired, sanitation pipes were treated, and some communities were resupplied with drinking water. The technical teams of telecommunications companies, including Maroc Telecom, "INWI" and "Orange", have also mobilized to address sudden and frequent interruptions in telephone and internet services, and to maintain and update transmission stations, ensuring the continuity of services provided to customers and subscribers. These continuous efforts, which are still ongoing until the weather improves, reflect a high level of responsibility and the spirit of citizenship among the various institutional actors, in the service of the public good and under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him.
