Spain is experiencing widespread disruption in recent days as a result of severe weather conditions affecting several regions, especially in the south and north of the country.
The authorities were forced to evacuate about 3,000 people from different areas in the Andalusia region as a precautionary measure, while more than 100 roads were closed due to floods, snow, and landslides, causing a partial paralysis of movement. A large number of railway services have also been suspended, especially high-speed trains linked to the city of Cordoba, to avoid any potential risks to the safety of passengers. In parallel, approximately 4,000 citizens in 53 municipalities are suffering from power outages, while 19 waterways have been placed under a high alert level in anticipation of sudden floods. In the northern half of the country, heavy snowfall has disrupted 76 roads, further complicating the traffic situation and disrupting freight and travel. Emergency and rescue services continue their intensive efforts to control the situation, amidst official warnings of the continuation of weather fluctuations and the possibility of their effects worsening in the coming period.
