Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the United States is seeking to end the war between his country and Russia by next June, revealing an American proposal to hold a new round of talks between the two parties during the coming week.
Zelensky explained, in statements to journalists published on Saturday morning, that Washington has given Moscow and Kyiv a deadline until the beginning of summer to reach an agreement, noting that if no progress is made within this framework, the American administration is likely to put pressure on both sides to push them towards a settlement.
The Ukrainian president said: "The Americans say they want to complete the matter by June, and they are likely to put pressure on both parties according to this timeline."
He added that the United States offered, for the first time, to host a direct meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian negotiating teams on its territory, expecting it to be held in the city of Miami within a week, confirming that Kyiv has approved this proposal.
