HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
The recent weather fluctuations and the rise in the water level of Oued Sebou have caused the Al-Ashash bridge to be cut off, leading to the encirclement of a number of villages belonging to the municipality of Kensera in the province of Moulay Yacoub, leaving a difficult situation that has raised the concern of the residents who found themselves isolated from their vital surroundings.
Local sources reported that the floods witnessed by the valley in recent days led to the inundation of the bridge with water, which prevented the passage of vehicles and pedestrians, and caused the disruption of daily movement, especially for students and patients, in addition to hindering the arrival of essential materials and necessary services to the affected villages.
In light of this situation, the residents launched distress calls to the competent authorities for urgent intervention to break the isolation and take emergency measures to ensure the safety of citizens, whether by finding temporary alternative passages or accelerating the repair work of the damaged bridge.
The affected people confirm that the flooding of Oued Sebou is recurring with each rainy season, which raises questions about the fragility of the infrastructure in the region, and calls for thinking about radical and sustainable solutions that protect the residents from isolation and the risks associated with climate fluctuations. In anticipation of the intervention of the concerned authorities, the besieged villages are experiencing daily suffering, amid fears of the situation worsening in the event of continued rainfall, which necessitates accelerating the pace of intervention and activating a preventive approach that protects the lives and property of the residents.
