The regional authorities in Khénifra have initiated emergency intervention operations and comprehensive field mobilization, as part of preemptive measures aimed at addressing the rising water levels of the Oum Er-Rbia River, which crosses the city, in order to protect the safety of citizens and safeguard lives and property.
These interventions, which were carried out in coordination with various relevant authorities and with the support of civil protection teams, included a number of sensitive points adjacent to the sides of the river, where field monitoring was enhanced and efforts were intensified to contain any potential risks, with a focus on neighborhoods threatened by flooding, as well as the valleys and ravines associated with the waterway. These operations are part of a large-scale emergency plan drawn up by the Regional Vigilance Committee, which is based on continuous monitoring of the situation and the exchange of data in a timely manner, and the adoption of forecasting and early warning mechanisms, as well as strengthening coordination between local authorities and technical departments to ensure the highest degrees of readiness. In the same context, a package of preventive measures was taken to ensure the continuity of sanitation services, including the cleaning of networks and water channels, in addition to immediate intervention to repair the damage that occurred to some sections due to the force of the recent rainfall, in order to avoid any potential disruptions. The regional authorities in Khénifra, along with various stakeholders, continue to maintain a state of maximum alert until the situation returns to normal, with the adoption of an integrated approach to managing this situation, based on vigilance and continuous mobilization, in line with the high instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which make the safety of citizens and the protection of their property a top priority.
