US President Donald Trump announced what he described as great expectations for the results of the first official meeting of the "Peace Council," which is expected to be held in Washington, confirming that member states have pledged more than $5 billion to support humanitarian efforts and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in a move he said opens a new horizon for addressing the repercussions of the war.
Trump clarified, in a post on a social media platform, that his administration has achieved what he considered prominent successes, including the release of Israeli hostages and the acceleration of the entry of humanitarian aid, in addition to proposing an integrated vision for the future of civilians in Gaza, considering that the "Peace Council" possesses unprecedented potential that may make it a pivotal international body in the global system. The US President indicated that he will personally participate in the council meeting in Washington, where details of the financial pledges will be announced, in addition to allocating thousands of elements to form an "international stability force" supported by a local police force, with the aim of maintaining security and order within the sector, while emphasizing the need for the "Hamas" movement to fully and immediately disarm. This move comes amid widespread international anticipation for the meeting, which will bring together leaders and high-level delegations from 27 founding countries, amid expectations of bold announcements related to the reconstruction of Gaza and its future management, but the initiative is not without controversy, in light of questions about its international legitimacy and the absence of some influential European countries.
