A Spanish court in the city of Ceuta has issued a verdict condemning a Moroccan citizen on charges of attempting to bribe a Civil Guard officer, following his arrest at the Tarajal border crossing, which links the city of Fnideq and the city of Ceuta.
According to the case data, the person in question attempted to offer a sum of money to a security officer in exchange for allowing him to bring food items into his car, in violation of the procedures in force at the border point. However, the security officer refused the offer and took the necessary legal actions against him, which led to his judicial prosecution and subsequent conviction by the competent court.
This incident comes in the context of tightening control at border crossings, especially during certain times of the year, where strict restrictions are applied to the entry of some goods and materials, including food items.
In this context, a number of citizens indicate that the Civil Guard services, during the month of Ramadan, prevent the entry of some traditional foods and sweets associated with this occasion, such as "Chebakia" and others, where they are seized or destroyed at the border point, within the framework of applying the laws regulating the movement of goods between the two sides.
These measures remain a subject of discussion among travelers, who express their surprise at the prohibition of the entry of food items of a personal nature, while the authorities confirm that the aim is to respect the laws in force and control the movement of goods across the border.
