HIBAPRESS
The act of a group of Moroccans residing in France organizing a collective iftar inside one of the metro carriages in Paris sparked a wave of widespread discontent among members of the Moroccan community.
Social media users circulated video clips documenting the moment of placing iftar meals on a table and eating them inside the metro carriage, a scene that Moroccans in France considered inappropriate behavior for a public space governed by strict laws and regulations. Several commentators criticized the step, considering it offensive to the image of Moroccans residing abroad and not reflecting respect for the laws in force in public transport. In addition, it distorts Moroccan heritage and culture more than it serves them. Commentators on social media considered that such behaviors stemmed from what they called "illiteracy," because, according to them, it is impossible for a sane person to do this act in the middle of a metro full of people returning to their homes tired after a hard day's work.
