HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyaoui
The Moulay Idriss edge area, belonging to the Meriniyin district in the city of Fes, witnessed a state of security alert yesterday, Friday, following the discovery of a human skull inside a workshop dedicated to construction work, according to informed sources who confirmed the opening of a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
According to the same sources, children were playing near the workshop before they found the skull among the soil, and they informed a number of passersby, who in turn hurried to notify the representative of the local authority. Consequently, the security services moved to the scene in a short time, accompanied by elements of the judicial police and technical and scientific police. It is likely that the skull was moved from another location within the trucks of soil that are unloaded on the edge as part of the ongoing construction work, which aims to rehabilitate the space and transform it in the future into green spaces and nearby playgrounds for the benefit of the residents. The security elements have initiated field inspection procedures, where the place was cordoned off and initial data was collected before the skull was seized in accordance with the applicable legal procedures. In the context of the open investigation, the human remains were directed to the anatomy department at the Al-Ghassani Regional Hospital to subject them to the necessary medical and technical expertise, in order to determine their identity and the circumstances of their presence at the site, pending the results of the investigation to reveal the circumstances of this incident.
