The Government Council, meeting on Wednesday in Rabat, adopted a draft decree on the direct social assistance program. This project, presented by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, aims to strengthen support for the most deprived families.
This is draft decree No. 2.24.706, which supplements decree No. 2.23.1067 of 17 Joumada I 1445 implementing law No. 58.23 on the direct social assistance system. This project is part of the pioneering Royal initiative “A million schoolbags”, which plans to pay additional aid to families benefiting from the direct social assistance system for each new school year. This measure aims to reduce the burdens and costs of deprived families, indicates a press release from the Ministry Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson.
For this purpose, the amounts granted to families as part of the aid relating to protection against risks related to childhood concern their children enrolled in primary school, secondary school and qualifying secondary school, enrolled in public schools, up to a limit of six children. These allowances will be paid once, in September of each year.
The amounts were set at 200 dirhams for each child enrolled in primary and secondary school, and at 300 dirhams for each child enrolled in the qualifying secondary cycle.
