The Ait Athou area, located within the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality of Ras Tabouda in the Sefrou region, witnessed a murder on Saturday evening, the victim being a mosque imam, after he was fatally assaulted by a person believed to be suffering from mental disorders, after the end of the Asr prayer.
According to local data, the suspect, who was born in 1984, attacked the imam, who was in his fifties, inflicting several fatal stab wounds, in an incident that left a state of shock and bewilderment among the residents of the area. The incident prompted the intervention of local authorities and elements of the Royal Gendarmerie who arrived at the scene, where they were able to arrest the suspect shortly after the assault. The competent authorities also launched an investigation into the case, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, to determine the circumstances of this crime. This incident comes less than a day after a similar incident witnessed by the municipality of Imhajer in the Driouch region, where a mosque imam was killed following an assault carried out by a person suffering from mental disorders inside the mosque while performing the Fajr prayer.
