The works of this meeting were opened with a speech by the governor of the province, in which he affirmed that the olive tree constitutes one of the main pillars of the local agricultural system, given its role in improving farmers' income and providing job opportunities in the rural environment, stressing the importance of joint work between various stakeholders to face the challenges facing the sector, and to enhance production chains with respect for quality and health safety standards.

During this meeting, the Regional Director of Agriculture presented a detailed presentation on the status of the olive sector in the province, in which he addressed the most important indicators related to this agricultural chain, highlighting that the area planted with olive trees at the province level amounts to about 14,990 hectares, while the 2025-2026 season recorded production estimated at about 52,000 tons.
