HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaid
Within the framework of tightening control over the quality of food products and protecting the health safety of citizens, the health and environmental conservation services in the municipality of Volcano launched, on Thursday, the 22nd of Ramadan, a large-scale inspection campaign within the jurisdiction of the First Administrative Annex, which resulted in the seizure and destruction of quantities of consumer materials that did not meet health conditions.
This field tour witnessed the mobilization of various local authorities, as it took place under the direct supervision of the head of the First District and the chief of police, with the participation of members of the Regional Joint Committee. This step comes within the program of periodic tours that aim to monitor the extent to which commercial and professional shops respect health and environmental safety standards.
During the inspection process, the committee was able to seize a quantity of approximately 50 kilograms of traditional sweets, which were offered for sale in front of a commercial store in conditions that lacked the minimum standards of preservation and storage. According to sources from the committee, the way these materials were displayed outside the store exposed them to contamination and external factors, which made them a real danger to the health of consumers.
In implementation of the laws in force, the authorities confiscated the seized quantity and transported the seized items via a truck belonging to the local development company "Environment Volcano" and destroyed them at the company's headquarters in the presence of committee members, with a violation report being issued against the owner of the concerned store to take the necessary legal and punitive measures.
This operation falls within the context of the continuous efforts made by the Volcano community in coordination with the local authorities, to enhance road and environmental control, and to ensure that all commercial units comply with the legislative texts regulating the safety of food products.
