The local prison in Oujda hosted, on the evening of Thursday, the 22nd of Ramadan, the activities of the closing ceremony of the National Religious Competition for the year 2026, which crowned a path of spiritual and cultural competition among inmates of penitentiary institutions across the Kingdom.
This Ramadan religious competition, organized by the General Delegation for the Administration of Prisons and Reintegration, in coordination with the Regional Scientific Council of the Oriental region, falls within the framework of activating strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening religious and educational guidance within the prison environment. This edition saw the participation of 52 male and female inmates who qualified for the final rounds after intensive preliminary eliminations that took place in various national penitentiary institutions. These included branches of memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran, memorization and interpretation of the Prophet's hadiths, the best call to prayer, and chanting and praise. This annual religious event was an opportunity to consolidate the values of tolerance and moderation among the inmates, where incentive prizes were distributed to the first winners in various branches, including cash amounts, a collection of religious books, and a bag of Tajweed Quran, encouraging them to continue their path of scientific acquisition and behavioral correction. On the sidelines of this closing ceremony, which was attended by the head of the Regional Scientific Council, representatives of the judicial and local authorities, decentralized services, and other personalities, an equipped prayer room was inaugurated, with the aim of providing suitable conditions for inmates to practice their religious rituals in a healthy spiritual environment.
