HIBAPRESS – A. Muhyawi
The "Labita" mosque in the Hay Dahr Al-Khamis neighborhood, affiliated with the Al-Mariniyin district of Fez, witnessed a state of confusion within the ranks of worshipers during the performance of the dawn prayer this Saturday morning, after a person suspected of suffering from mental disorders stormed the mosque and caused chaos inside it.
According to information from the scene, the person in question, known in the neighborhood as "Weld Al-Issawiya", entered the mosque in a state of agitation, where he began uttering incomprehensible words and directing insults and curses at the worshipers, before causing damage to the loudspeaker inside the mosque. The same sources add that the person in question tried to physically assault one of the worshipers, as he tried to strangle him with his hands, which caused a state of panic and alert among those present inside the house of worship. A number of worshipers rushed to intervene in order to control him and prevent him from continuing his actions, until the security authorities were notified of the incident. Upon receiving the news, elements of the twentieth security district moved to the scene, where the person in question was arrested and taken to the headquarters of the third security zone in order to be heard within the framework of the legal procedures in place. By instructions from the Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Fez, the person in question was transferred to Ibn Al-Hassan Hospital to subject him to the necessary monitoring and medical expertise, in order to determine his health and psychological condition and take appropriate legal measures against him.
