A video circulating on Facebook pages and groups sparked widespread controversy after a woman wearing a niqab and attempting to hide her identity appeared in it, directly accusing the prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Marrakech of threatening her. She claimed to have been wronged in a case related to a dispute over a plot of land.
However, information obtained by the newspaper from reliable sources revealed details that differed from what was stated in the video. An investigation will be opened in accordance with the provisions of the Press and Publishing Law to verify the allegations that were widely circulated across social media. According to the same sources, the person in question comes from the municipality of Tassoultante on the outskirts of Marrakech and has previously been questioned by the Royal Gendarmerie elements in the area, and she was also received by one of the deputy prosecutors whom she accused. The roots of the case go back to a dispute over a plot of land owned by the aunt of the person in question, which a company legally acquired and fulfilled all the necessary licenses to start exploiting it. However, the woman, along with some members of her family, objected, claiming her right to a share of the sale, even though the land is not in her possession and she does not have any legal capacity to claim it. The sources confirmed that the deputy prosecutor asked her to provide evidence of her status among those entitled, but she was unable to provide any legal documents to prove it before resorting to publishing the video, which contained accusations that the sources considered "baseless." The data clarified that the prosecutor whose name appeared in the video had never met the person in question or received any complaint from her, noting that her situation in this case is as a complainant according to official records. The sources revealed that the woman herself is also involved in a case of assault on a judicial commissioner while he was performing his duties when he was about to notify her of a civil summons after the company owning the property filed a lawsuit aimed at evicting her from the land, which she claims to own with legal documents. The sources added that the person in question left the territory of the Marrakech region and is currently residing in the city of Rabat after being followed in cases related to assault on a judicial commissioner and encroachment on property, before returning via the circulating video to direct serious accusations at the prosecutor, accusations that the sources confirm are devoid of truth.
