HIBAPRESS – Mohamed El Harouali
The local authorities in the city of Marrakech continue to implement a wide-ranging campaign to liberate public property as part of efforts to improve the aesthetics of the urban landscape and address various manifestations of the haphazard exploitation of public spaces.
These operations target various districts and neighborhoods, with a particular focus on removing construction and demolition debris, which constitutes the most prominent black spots within the city, in addition to combating the illegal occupation of sidewalks, squares, and roads. This campaign falls within the framework of activating directives aimed at ensuring the optimal use of public property by putting an end to all forms of encroachment, including the placement of obstacles and equipment that impede traffic flow or the unauthorized exploitation of public spaces. The authorities, in coordination with the Marrakech community services and security agencies, have mobilized significant human and logistical resources with the aim of ensuring the success of these operations in good conditions, while ensuring respect for the legal procedures in force. The campaigns adopted a gradual approach that starts with awareness and issuing warnings to violators before moving on to taking the necessary legal measures against violators, especially with regard to the random disposal of construction waste or the occupation of public property without legal basis. These moves come in the context of the authorities' efforts to improve the quality of life within the city, maintain the cleanliness of public spaces, and ensure the smooth flow of citizens' movement, reflecting a continuous trend towards organizing the urban space and responding to the aspirations of the residents.
