HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The file of pharmacy assistants has resurfaced within the legislative institution, after the Authenticity and Modernity Party group raised the issues of this sector through a question directed to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in which it called for accelerating the regulation of the profession and establishing an organized framework for it.
This step highlights the size of the role played by pharmacy assistants in ensuring the continuity of services within pharmacies, as they perform multiple tasks that include receiving patients, managing medications, and contributing to providing basic guidance under the supervision of pharmacists.
However, this role, according to the data presented, is not accompanied by a clear legal framework, which poses numerous professional and social challenges, including the absence of accredited training, the lack of clarity of tasks, as well as the disparity in wages and working conditions between different pharmaceutical institutions.
In this context, calls are increasing to establish a recognized vocational training and qualification system, which ensures the raising of the efficiency of this group and the improvement of the quality of health services provided to citizens.
The bet today remains on the interaction of the supervising ministry with these demands, through the development of a reform that balances the regulation of the profession and the protection of the rights of those working in it, in a way that enhances their position within the national health system.
