The African scientific arena witnessed the launch of a qualitative initiative called the African Women Researchers' Coalition (AWRC), in a move that aims to reshape the continent's scientific research landscape by empowering women and enhancing their presence in various academic disciplines.
This initiative seeks to build a cross-border scientific network that brings together African female researchers, with the aim of developing joint cooperation and exchanging experiences and knowledge, in line with the rapid transformations that the continent is witnessing at the social, economic, and political levels.
The project is based on creating new scientific spaces that provide funding and guidance opportunities, in addition to supporting the involvement of women in scientific research paths, and enhancing their participation in decision-making circles and academic discussions of a strategic dimension.
In this context, Iman Ghanmi, the founder and general coordinator of the initiative, confirmed that this alliance represents a promising platform for empowering African female competencies, and linking scientific research to priority societal issues, which contributes to producing more impactful and responsive scientific knowledge to the needs of the continent.
Observers believe that the launch of this alliance reflects a growing shift towards supporting diversity and inclusion in the African research system, and opens up new horizons for female researchers to enhance their presence at the regional and international levels, in light of the increasing calls for achieving equality in research and innovation opportunities.
