HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The delay in preparing and approving urban planning designs for a number of cities has sparked controversy within the legislative institution, where the parliamentary representative of the Popular Movement Party, Nabil El Daksh, addressed a written question to the Ministry of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, regarding the reasons for this delay and its impact on investment dynamics.
The parliamentarian pointed out that a number of cities are experiencing a noticeable delay in the issuance of urban planning documents, which negatively affects investment and real estate projects and delays the launch of development projects, especially in light of the data indicating that urban planning files remain pending at the central services level, particularly within the Directorate of Urban Planning. The same source added that this situation concerns major cities such as Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, and Marrakesh, despite their significant urban and economic activity, questioning the real reasons behind this delay, and the measures that the ministry intends to take to expedite the processing of the files, as well as the expected timeframes for completing the approval of urban planning designs in line with the development of these cities.
