HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The Istiqlal party prioritizes winning the Anfa district in the upcoming elections, as it seeks to strengthen its presence in one of the most prominent electoral districts in the city of Casablanca, which is described as the "death district" due to the intense political competition there.
According to data from within the party, a major discussion is taking place between two currents within the leadership, with one pushing for the nomination of Hassan El Berkani, the head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Casablanca-Settat region, while another current supports the return of former Minister Yasmina Baddou to compete in the same district. As of now, the Istiqlal party has not definitively decided on the identity of its candidate in the Anfa district, while internal consultations continue, just a few weeks before the election date, reflecting the importance of the bet that this district represents in the party's political calculations.
