The interview given by the French National Prosecutor for Counter-Terrorism, Olivier Christen, to Franceinfo, caused a state of panic within the Algerian regime, after he addressed files related to what was described as "state terrorism," an indication understood to mean a possible link between the "Generals" regime and the attempted targeting of the dissident known as "Amir Dzair".
In the first official response, the Algerian News Agency quoted a source in the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressing strong condemnation of these statements, considering them "irresponsible and reckless," and in which Algeria was mentioned in a "fleeting and unjustified" manner within open judicial proceedings in France. The same source confirmed that these accusations "can only provoke condemnation and disdain," stressing that they fall within a "desperate attack" on Algeria, in the context of what it described as French attempts to find a "scapegoat" in light of escalating internal crises. This escalation comes to increase the intensity of tension in Algerian-French relations, especially with the increase in sensitive files related to security and politics, at a time when mutual accusations between the two parties are escalating, which opens the door to a new phase of diplomatic tensions.
