The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, represents, on Tuesday, April 7th in Lyon, His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the "One Health" international summit, which brings together a wide range of international actors.
The Moroccan delegation includes the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and officials from this sector, as well as from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Consul General of the Kingdom in Lyon, Rajae Benchaji. The "One Health" summit brings together, for the first time, heads of state and government from around the world, along with representatives of relevant international and regional organizations, parliamentarians, scientists, actors from the private sector, civil society, local authorities, development banks, and youth, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of the "One Health" approach. This approach is based on the firm conviction that the health of humans, the health of animals, and the health of ecosystems are closely interconnected. Recent health crises, especially the "COVID-19" pandemic, have highlighted the need to adopt coordinated responses based on science, prevention, and the sharing of knowledge and international cooperation. The summit aims to stimulate international and multidisciplinary dialogue on global issues, by launching cooperation and research programs, and contributing to rethinking the global institutional framework, by establishing a common culture based on the "One Health" approach. It also aims to mobilize various public and private actors wishing to engage in the implementation of concrete measures and deepen solutions to strengthen health and vigilance systems, to prevent health, food, and environmental risks that affect the population. The summit's work focuses on four main axes: determinants of infectious and non-communicable diseases, the importance of research and innovation, strengthening multilateralism based on action and international partnerships, as well as the pivotal role of partnerships between the public and private sectors, in addition to the comprehensive participation of civil society, local authorities and youth.
