On Tuesday, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, conducted a field tour that included a number of historical landmarks and archaeological sites in Marrakech and its surrounding areas, as part of monitoring projects to protect the national cultural heritage.
The Minister began his visit at the heritage interpretation centers in "Bab Aylan" and "Bab Ghmat," where he learned about the methods of displaying heritage using modern methods that enhance awareness of the importance of preserving this heritage. The tour also included a visit to the historical site of Aghmat, and the El Badi and Bahia Palaces, where he viewed the unique archaeological and architectural components of these monuments. A portion of the visit was dedicated to assessing the progress of restoration and maintenance work witnessed at these sites damaged by the Al Haouz earthquake, with a commitment to preserving their authenticity and historical identity. These visits fall within a comprehensive vision to value the national heritage and enhance the attractiveness of historical sites as tourist and cultural destinations, which contributes to consolidating the position of the Kingdom of Morocco as a lever for cultural and tourist radiance, and ensuring the continuity of this legacy for future generations.
