HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Elbaz
The Italian diaspora in Morocco is facing increasing dissatisfaction due to visa application procedures for family reunification of in-laws, particularly through the Italian consulate in Casablanca. The problem lies in the contradiction between what appears on the "VFS Global Italia" website regarding the availability of appointments (the green box) and what citizens face when they arrive at the consulate, where the services announced in advance are not provided.
Applicants are forced to bear high expenses, including application files, translation, and document certification (Apostille), in addition to the hassle of travel, only to find that their efforts are in vain. The diaspora describes the experience as a recurring organizational and administrative shock, reflecting a lack of coordination between the consulate and the booking intermediary, and revealing a large gap between the electronic announcement and the field reality. The demands are clear: improve the transparency of appointments, ensure the provision of services as announced, and hold the concerned parties accountable for everything that causes financial and moral losses to citizens. The continuation of this chaos threatens the diaspora's trust and puts them before unjustified challenges in an effort to reunite their families.
