HIBAPRESS – Rabat
On Friday, April 10, 2026, the Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, chaired a meeting dedicated to following up on the implementation of the employment sector roadmap, where progress was reviewed sectorally, at the level of creating opportunities in the labor market.
During the meeting, the tangible improvement in the labor market situation in the Kingdom was noted, supported by positive figures, as the national economy saw the creation of 850,000 job opportunities in non-agricultural sectors, at an average of 170,000 jobs annually between 2021 and 2025. If the momentum recorded in 2025, which saw the creation of 233,000 jobs, continues, it is expected that more than one million jobs will be created by the end of 2026, regardless of the jobs lost in the agricultural sector due to drought. The concerned sectors presented at the meeting presentations on the progress made in implementing the various programs related to the employment sector roadmap, particularly in the fields of agriculture and tourism. Agricultural activities witnessed a revival during the current season, which saw the creation of 365 million workdays, an increase of 7% compared to the last agricultural season. The tourism sector achieved results exceeding the expectations of 2026, creating 92,000 jobs, instead of 80,000 jobs. Regarding the support system for very small, small and medium enterprises, 170 project applications were submitted, mainly concerning the industrial, accommodation and catering sectors, where 21 projects were approved, representing investments worth 312 million dirhams, and the allocation of 49 million dirhams in support of these projects. Measures were also presented that aim to prepare the conditions conducive to the contribution of very small, small and medium enterprises in the equipment and housing sectors, in stimulating employment at the territorial level, and facilitating their access to public deals. The opening of employment promotion programs to new sectors was noted, for the benefit of young people who do not have certificates, through the "Integration" and "Stimulation" programs. In addition to launching the "Tadrij" program, which aims to generalize vocational training through various production and service sectors, and the integration of 100,000 trainees annually in the heart of the economic and social transformation that the Kingdom is experiencing. Government measures were also highlighted to combat school waste and reduce the number of students dropping out of school, by strengthening "Leadership" preparatory schools and expanding the concept of second-chance schools. Within the framework of the program related to nurseries, the establishment of 40 model nurseries was recorded, with a view to strengthening them with an additional 20, and this program comes in order to overcome the obstacles to women's access to the labor market, with regard to childcare, and to provide the working woman with the opportunity to reconcile her professional obligations and family responsibilities. In light of these positive indicators, the Prime Minister stressed that the implementation of the programs adopted in the employment sector roadmap is on the right track, calling on the various sectors to strengthen convergence, and to ensure the acceleration of the pace of program implementation according to the specified goals and deadlines, especially those concerned with youth, women, and very small, small and medium enterprises in the rural world.
