Universitat Rovira i Virgili organized an international conference on April 9 and 10, 2026, on relations between Tarragona and Morocco, within the framework of launching the Chair of Studies on Morocco, an initiative of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The conference witnessed the participation of researchers and experts who discussed the development of these relations since the nineteenth century, highlighting their historical, cultural, and economic dimensions, and emphasizing their importance in promoting Mediterranean cooperation. Emphasis was also placed on the growing partnership between Tarragona and Tangier, especially through twinning projects and economic exchange, in addition to the active role of the Moroccan community in supporting local development. The event included a diverse cultural program, while the conference concluded that these relations represent an advanced model of cooperation based on dialogue and understanding between peoples.
