HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Calls are escalating for urgent intervention to stop the phenomenon of selling medicines and food supplements via social media, given the increasing risks it poses to the health of consumers.
Observers warn that a number of these products are promoted without supervision or licensing, and are often of unknown origin, which opens the door to the circulation of substances that may pose a real danger to their users. Data also indicates cases of forgery in expiry dates by some promoters, which increases the severity of the health risks associated with these products, amidst calls for increased monitoring and the taking of strict measures to protect citizens from these practices. Furthermore, a number of people use recently created accounts with different identities to promote a number of medicines and food supplements on the basis that they help in losing or gaining weight and other matters that attract a wide segment, especially women.
