HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Daher
The traffic accident cases chamber at the Court of First Instance in Marrakech has postponed the consideration of the case of the son of a lawyer, who is being prosecuted in connection with a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of an employee of the Agmat commune in the Al Haouz province, until September 7th, in order to summon the victim's legal heirs.
The accused, "A.Y.", was brought before the Public Prosecution in custody by the Royal Gendarmerie elements, before it was decided to prosecute him in custody on suspicion of committing a number of acts, including overt public intoxication and driving in that state, failure to perform necessary maneuvers to avoid the accident, involuntary manslaughter resulting from a traffic accident, altering the scene of a traffic accident, in addition to driving without a license.
The incident's facts date back to the early hours of Monday, August 10th, when the victim sustained severe injuries, necessitating her immediate transfer to Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech. She underwent emergency surgery, but the severity of her injuries prevented her life from being saved.
The session on September 7th is expected to mark a new stage in the progress of this case, in which the accused is being prosecuted in custody following the circumstances of the accident that ended with the victim's death.
