HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Barka
The manifestations of the spread of waste associated with commercial activities have begun to stir resentment among a number of residents of the city of Agadir, after some streets and neighborhoods have become, almost daily, witnessing the accumulation of bags, boxes, and debris originating from commercial stores, which are sometimes placed next to containers or in places not designated for waste disposal.
This phenomenon is clearly evident around a number of containers, where commercial waste left outside them turns into piles of garbage that mar the urban landscape, in addition to the foul odors and the spread of insects and rodents it may cause, alongside the possibility of the contents of the bags scattering on sidewalks and roads, affecting public property cleanliness and pedestrian movement.
Citizens believe that addressing this situation is no longer limited to waste collection operations, but rather necessitates the innovation of practical and organized solutions for commercial waste, by defining clear mechanisms for its disposal, enhancing awareness among traders, intensifying monitoring in areas where these practices are repeated, and activating legal measures when violations are recorded.
Those following the issue demand a balanced approach that combines organization, awareness, and monitoring, so that waste containers and their surroundings do not turn into permanent spaces for collecting commercial activity waste, emphasizing that preserving the beauty of Agadir and the cleanliness of its streets is a shared responsibility between traders, the managing authorities, and the residents.
