The Union of Associative Fabric in Azilal, in the province of Nador, issued a strongly worded statement expressing its condemnation and denunciation of the visit of the King of Spain and his wife to the occupied cities of Ceuta and Melilla. This step has sparked a wave of widespread resentment among Moroccans, due to the political and symbolic implications it carries, touching upon the feelings of the Moroccan people and their national and historical cause, which is always present in their consciousness.
In its statement, the Union considered this visit to be a provocative step towards the feelings of Moroccans, given the sensitive position of the issue of Ceuta and Melilla in the national memory, and its connection to demands related to sovereignty and the completion of the territorial unity of the Kingdom. It also emphasized that Moroccan-Spanish relations must be based on mutual respect and good faith, while categorically rejecting the exploitation of official occasions to entrench the status quo or ignore outstanding historical issues.
In the same context, the Union of Associative Fabric stressed the important role played by Moroccan civil society and institutions in advocating for national issues through peaceful and conscious institutional means, while defending the supreme interests of the Kingdom away from any discourse that calls for hatred or escalation. The statement called for serious and responsible engagement with the issue of the two occupied cities through frank dialogue that respects national constants and enshrines the principles of good neighborliness.
In conclusion, the Union reiterated its firm adherence to national constants and the territorial unity of the Kingdom, emphasizing that defending national issues requires collective vigilance and responsible civic awareness, along with adherence to peaceful dialogue and sober diplomacy, concluding the statement with the slogan "Long live the unified Kingdom of Morocco, from Tangier to Lagouira."
