The Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Fes ordered the detention of a social media activist on "Facebook" in Bourkaiz prison, pending prosecution in a case related to publishing photos of a female police officer online without her consent. The file is suspected to be linked to a violation of privacy and defamation using information systems, according to a source for HIBAPRESS.
According to the same source, the individual faces charges related to violating privacy and defamation through information means, in addition to publishing photos, digital composites, and allegations suspected of being used to abuse the complainant because of her gender.
Data related to the case indicates that communication between the two parties began via "Facebook," where personal photos were exchanged, before the police officer filed a complaint accusing the individual of publishing her photos online without her consent, prompting the initiation of necessary legal procedures.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant against the suspect, after his disappearance since last July, the competent authorities managed to apprehend him and refer him to the Public Prosecution, which decided to prosecute him in detention.
The trial of the accused before the Felony Misdemeanors Chamber at the Court of First Instance in Fes began the day before yesterday, Wednesday, before the court decided to postpone the case to October 21st of this month, in order to summon and hear the complainant, as well as to determine her position on claiming civil damages and seeking compensation for the harm she claims to have suffered.
The next session is expected to see the continuation of the case, pending the outcome of its discussion before the judiciary, with the emphasis that the charges against the accused remain allegations under judicial prosecution until a final ruling is issued.
