The Beni Hida commune in the Al Hoceima province has announced the adoption of a set of measures to address the problem of recurring potable water outages in Idootha village, which have caused difficulties for residents in obtaining this vital substance. This comes following a coordination meeting held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the headquarters of the Beni Hida leadership, in implementation of the instructions of the Governor of Al Hoceima province.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Beni Hida commune, the Regional Company for Multi-Services in Al Hoceima, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, and the contractor responsible for road development works in the area. The causes of the disruptions in the potable water distribution network were discussed, as well as ways to put an end to this problem as soon as possible.
Following the meeting, the committee conducted a field visit to Idootha village, where it identified a number of shortcomings that affected the water network. These included leaks in the connection pipes, exposed sections of the pipes, and damage to the pipes due to the road development works in the village.
After discussing the situation, it was agreed that the contractor would commit to providing the necessary materials for the reconstruction and renewal of the damaged connection pipes. The Regional Company for Multi-Services in Al Hoceima will be responsible for laying the new pipes and connecting the water network. It was also decided to commence repairs starting from Thursday, October 15, with a completion time not exceeding four days. Local authorities and the commune will be responsible for informing residents of the latest developments on the matter.
The communal council of Beni Hida affirmed, in its press release, its commitment to monitoring the implementation of these commitments and coordinating with various stakeholders to restore the supply of potable water as soon as possible. It stressed the continuation of engagement with citizens' concerns and working to improve basic services and respond to the expectations of the residents of Idootha village.
