HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Justice and Development Party (PJD) parliamentary group in the House of Representatives deposited, on Friday, October 23rd, four draft laws related to the anti-corruption system, fulfilling a commitment previously announced during the discussion of the government program last Thursday.
The group clarified in a statement signed by its president, Idriss Azami Idrissi, that these proposals were submitted to the office of the House of Representatives, in preparation for their presentation to the competent committee and their submission to the legislative procedure stipulated in the internal regulations of the Council.
The four proposals concern the prevention and combating of conflicts of interest, the criminalization of leaking privileged information for the purpose of obtaining benefits and privileges, in accordance with Article 36 of the Constitution, as well as the criminalization of illicit enrichment to combat large and unjustified increases in wealth. They also include the protection of public officials who report acts of corruption in public administrations, and the unification and updating of legislation related to the mandatory declaration of assets.
The group indicated that this initiative comes within the framework of implementing the proposals of the Justice and Development Party included in its electoral program, particularly measures 111 to 115, and after the government's installation by the House of Representatives on the evening of Thursday, October 22nd. The group based its deposit of proposals on the provisions of Article 177 of the internal regulations of the House of Representatives, related to the deposit and referral of draft and proposed laws.
