In a new development regarding the recordings file that sparked controversy in journalistic and human rights circles, Khalid Al Harri, a member of the Ethics Committee of the Provisional Committee for the Management of the Press Sector, officially apologized to the lawyers, describing what came from him as a "moment of emotion."
In a letter addressed to the president of the Association of Bar Associations in Morocco, Al Harri expressed his regret for what happened, confirming that the tone of his speech at that moment "was not as calm as required," and offering a "sincere professional apology" to all the lawyers who were affected by the leak. The committee member explained that what happened was during an internal professional discussion in a closed meeting that was supposed to respect confidentiality, stressing that his words "were not directed at any member of the body, nor did they aim to undermine the noble profession." Al Harri considered the party that leaked the recording responsible for a "deliberate leak and composite cutting" of the meeting's contents, describing it as "dangerous behavior" that harms trust and affects the image of the defense and journalism professions. The journalist affirmed his constant respect for the legal profession and its pivotal role in protecting rights and freedoms and safeguarding the rule of law. He concluded his letter by expressing his full readiness to cooperate with the Association of Bar Associations to strengthen the "bridges of mutual respect" and support initiatives aimed at protecting the confidentiality of meetings.
