Crowdfunding granted by banks and crowdfunding windows reached 21.4 billion dirhams (MMDH) excluding margins recorded in advance in 2023, compared to 17.4 billion dirhams a year earlier, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
These financings were dedicated to real estate (80.4%), equipment (13.5%), as well as consumption and treasury (6.1%), indicates BAM in its 20th annual report on banking supervision. This report also states that participatory financings consist of the types “Mourabaha” (99%) and “Salam” (1%).
Thus, the total outstanding amount of Mourabaha financing stood at 28 billion dirhams, up 20.1% year-on-year. Excluding margins recorded in advance, this outstanding amount stood at 21.2 billion dirhams. In terms of distribution by economic object, the Mourabaha portfolio is composed of 81% real estate financing, 13.6% equipment financing and 5.5% consumer financing.
In addition, BAM specifies that the stock of goods acquired within the framework of Mourabaha operations amounts to 301.4 million dirhams (MDH) in 2023, against 171.1 MDH in 2022.
As for the outstanding amount of Salam financing, it increased to 187.7 MDH in 2023. Customer receivables represent 86.8% of total assets.
