HIBAPRESS
Videos circulating on social media showed the moment of the arrest of the suspect in the shooting incident that occurred during the White House correspondents' dinner on Saturday evening.
According to Fox News, the detainee is named Cole Thomas Allen (31 years old) and hails from California, where he was arrested after the incident that occurred inside the Hilton Hotel in Washington, coinciding with the presence of US President Donald Trump at the ceremony. After hearing the sound of gunfire, Secret Service agents rushed to remove Trump and his wife Melania urgently from the hall, before he later confirmed, via the "Truth Social" platform, the arrest of the suspect, and also published his photo. Trump expressed his belief that the accused acted individually, describing him as a "lone wolf," while the Washington police chief explained that the suspect was a guest at the hotel, indicating that investigations are still ongoing to determine the targeted party and motivations. For his part, the acting Attorney General revealed that charges related to weapon possession and assault were brought against the detainee, who is to appear before the court on Monday.
