The Al-Mdiq-Fnideq region witnessed, on Sunday afternoon, the recording of two consecutive earthquakes felt by a number of residents of the area, without resulting in any human or material losses.
Nasser Jbour, the head of the National Institute of Geophysics, stated in a statement to the Sit-Info media outlet that the strength of the first earthquake reached 2.7 degrees on the Richter scale, while the second earthquake was recorded at 2.5 degrees, which classifies them as light earthquakes. The speaker clarified that the two earthquakes occurred at a close time, as the first was recorded at 6:12 pm, followed by the second at 6:10 pm, which explains the residents' feeling of them in a row. The same source confirmed that this type of seismic activity is considered normal in the region and does not call for concern, pointing out that the competent authorities continue to monitor the seismic situation continuously to detect any potential developments.
