The International Federation of Football (FIFA) announced the organization of the first major artistic performance during the half-time of the 2026 World Cup final, a first in the history of the tournament, with the participation of prominent international names, led by Madonna and Shakira, along with the South Korean group "BTS".
The event was revealed through a promotional video with a celebratory tone, featuring Chris Martin, the star of the band "Coldplay," along with famous characters from the program "Sesame Street," including Elmo, Kermit, and Miss Piggy, where the stars participating in the anticipated show were announced. The MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, is expected to host the final match on July 19, 2026, with expectations of achieving record viewership worldwide, especially after the great public success achieved by the 2022 Qatar World Cup final. "FIFA" confirmed that the proceeds from the concert will be allocated to support the "FIFA Global Education Fund," an initiative aimed at raising $100 million to support children's education and expand opportunities to play football in several countries around the world. This show comes after the first experience undertaken by the International Federation during the Club World Cup in 2025, which witnessed artistic segments with the participation of a number of international artists, but the 2026 World Cup final show is expected to be the largest in terms of viewership and public attendance. The United States hosts the World Cup final for the first time since the 1994 edition, which is one of the most attended editions by the public, while the 2026 World Cup competitions will start on June 11 with expanded participation and expected celebrations in several cities. It has been officially announced that BTS will perform the first-of-its-kind musical performance "between the halves" in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The historic event will take place at the "New York New Jersey" stadium on July 19.
