The Royal Army will undergo a decisive test in its journey this season when it faces its host Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday evening in the first leg of the African Champions League final, seeking to put the first foot towards the podium.
The Moroccan team aspires to return with a positive result from South Africa, giving it an advantage before the expected return match in the capital Rabat on the 24th of May, in the journey to search for a title that has been a long time coming. The last nine editions of the tournament have witnessed complete Arab domination, while Sundowns remains the last non-Arab club to be crowned with the cup, in 2016, which is the only achievement for the South African team in the competition. As for the Royal Army, whose last crowning in the tournament was in 1985 under the name of the African Club Champions Cup, it is presenting this season one of its most balanced and solid seasons at the continental level, which has brought its fans back to the dream of restoring African glory. The match will be held on the grounds of the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, on Sunday, May 17, starting at three in the afternoon Moroccan time. The match will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS 2.
