HIBAPRESS
The livestock market of Ibn Souda in the city of Fez witnessed, on Monday, a state of congestion and anger among citizens and livestock owners, just two days before the arrival of Eid al-Adha, due to the significant rise in the prices of sacrifices and the lack of supply within the market.
According to what a number of citizens witnessed, the prices of sheep have seen an unprecedented increase, which sparked a wave of resentment and dissatisfaction, especially among simple families who found themselves unable to purchase the Eid sacrifice in light of the continuous high prices. A number of users also expressed their anger at the lack of livestock on display compared to the large demand that the market is experiencing during this period. The situation inside the market developed into a state of chaos and congestion, after verbal altercations broke out between some citizens and livestock owners, before things developed into an exchange of stone-throwing amidst tense and chaotic atmosphere, which left a state of panic among those present at the scene. Immediately upon being notified of the incident, the local authorities and elements of the public forces intervened urgently, where they were able to control the situation and contain the tension before the events escalated and something undesirable occurred, with the registration of a state of security alert within the market environment to restore calm and organize the movement of citizens.
