HIBAPRESS – Rabat
A number of students coming from various Moroccan cities, who are preparing to pursue their university studies in the faculties and institutes located in the Agdal district of Rabat, are facing a new challenge represented by finding suitable housing near their educational institutions.
With the approaching university entry date, students and their families have begun searching for rooms and apartments in neighborhoods adjacent to Agdal. However, the search journey has encountered the high rental prices, which, according to a number of students and families, exceed their available financial means.
Faced with this situation, a number of students found themselves with limited options, especially those coming from distant cities whose circumstances do not allow them to commute daily to Rabat.
Some have been forced to abandon the idea of renting an apartment individually and resort to shared housing by renting a room and sharing it with two or more students, with the aim of reducing monthly costs and distributing rental and utility expenses among themselves.
A number of students and their families are demanding the provision of additional university housing solutions close to higher education institutions, or the enhancement of the supply directed at students, which would help relieve pressure on the rental market and ensure suitable conditions for them to pursue their studies.
