Fes Security Directorate police elements on Friday morning, September 4, managed to arrest a 34-year-old individual on suspicion of involvement in publishing and distributing false claims and facts, and reporting imaginary crimes, which could undermine citizens' sense of security.
The arrest of the individual came after surveillance of video clips published on social media platforms, in which he appears warning against going out at night in a number of Fes neighborhoods, claiming the existence of two individuals on a motorcycle obstructing citizens and committing robbery operations using violence.
Security investigations showed that the competent authorities had not received any complaints or reports about crimes similar to what was mentioned in the circulated clips, before the owner's identity was determined and he was arrested. It turned out that the facts he spoke about were baseless according to the preliminary information of the investigation.
The suspect has been subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, with the aim of uncovering all the circumstances of the case and determining the motives and backgrounds for publishing these claims.
